Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Safely operate the screed to level asphalt or concrete, ensuring specified surface quality and paving depth.
- Read grade stakes and collaborate with grade checkers, lasers, or GPS to maintain accurate grading.
- Communicate effectively with other crew members using hand signals and verbal communication to coordinate work and ensure safety.
- Keep equipment clean and prepare it for transport on a flatbed when necessary.
- Perform daily inspections and maintenance to ensure the machine is in safe, proper working order, including fluid checks and proper lubrication.
- Notify mechanics when equipment requires maintenance or repair.
- Maintain orderliness, cleanliness, and safety at the job site.
- Follow the Supervisor's instructions closely.
Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Understand basic screed mechanics.
- CDL Class A commercial license required.
- Comprehend and adhere to all safety regulations.
- Follow Personal Protection Equipment requirements.
- Maintain an unwavering focus on safety.
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations.
- Willingness to travel throughout Central and Western Minnesota, Northern Iowa, and Eastern Dakotas.
Work Environment/Physical Demands:
- Ability to walk, bend, kneel, lift, stretch, and sit.
- Work outside in all weather conditions.
- Effectively handle lifting objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Regularly work extended or overtime hours outdoors in various weather conditions at all project locations.
- Travel is required.
